EVN Naturkraft, branch of the Austrian EVN, plans to construct a new wind farm in the Kavarna region, near the village Bulgarevo. The announcement comes from the company itself.

The first stage is the installment of 25 wind farming constructions with overall capacity of 50 MW. The annual production capacity will be 140 Gwh – this is the average energy consumption of about 40 000 households per year.

The second stage will enlarge the wind farm near Kavarna to 80 MW. The total investment sum will be nearly 100 million euro.

The wind farm near Kavarna is developed by Universum Energy OOD, and will be constructed by”EVN-ENERTRAG Kavarna”, of which EVN Naturkraft and the German ENERTRAG hold respectively 70 % and 30 % shares. The construction of the needed foundations for 25 wind generators has already begun, and they should be ready and in exploitation by the end of 2009.

“Over the next few years, the company plans to increase the share of renewable production sources from 20% to a third”, says the chief executive Burkhard Hoffer.
