A Picasso exhibition in Sofia

An exhibition of Pablo Picasso works was opened on December 16th in the National gallery for foreign arts. The exhibition will continue until March 15th 2009.

For the first time since 1984 Bulgaria welcomes the works of Picasso. The late graphics of Picasso are shown in the Urban art gallery in Sofia.

The National gallery for foreign arts keeps around 20 works of the painter. Most of them are graphics. Part of them were shown in the late 80s as a part of the exhibition “From Goya to Picasso”.

The new exhibition includes 86 works, collected from museums and collections in Malaga, Barcelona and Madrid. Graphics, ceramics and paintings are present in the exhibition.

One of the paintings, “A portrait of Paul”, has only been shown twice – in Barcelona and Paris. The collection also includes 25 photographs of Picasso, made by a friend of his.
