Balkan News with a good income in 2008

Balkan News Corporation EAD realized a 5% growth of profits on a yearly basis, concluding 2008 with 157,6 million leva. The owner of the channel bTV and several radio stations realized a 6% growth of the overal income to 62,4 million leva in 2008. This profit however, shrinks by 13% due to expenses and taxes, becoming 60,7 million leva. The expenses for payments grew by 64% to 14,2 million leva in 2008. By the end of 2008, the company has 386 employees, compared to 371 in 2007.

The income from interests tripled to 4,2 million leva in 2008. The finances and deposits of the company were 24,3 million leva, compared to 48 million at the end of 2007.

The company owns a majority share of the radio company CJ AD, which owns the radio stations ClassicFM, JazzFM, ZRock, NJoy and Melody. Balkan News Corporation is the exclusive representative for the sales of advertising space on the channels Fox Life and Fox Crime.

For their rights to show UEFA Champion’s League, bTV paid 621 thousand leva in 2008 and 904 thousand leva in 2007.
