Bansko will increase the lodging places

The newspaper Dnevnik announced that the municipality of Bansko plans to increase the lodging base of the resort over the years with 8000 beds.

After the completion of all new projects, Bansko will be able to accommodate more than 23 000 tourists.

Before the construction-boom in 2002, Bansko could accommodate only about 3000 tourists.

The financial crisis did not stop investors from planning new projects and beginning their construction. The municipality hasn’t received any official notices for the blocking of projects, said the mayor of Bansko Alexander Kravarov.

Researches show that the average work load of hotels during the winter season 2008/2009 was 60%. The season was hardest for small-scale entrepreneurs in the tourism sector.
