Submitted on Thursday, 25 December 2008No Comment

“Bulgaria has been nominated the number 3 grain exporter of Europe in 2008”, said the vice president of agriculture and foods Svetla Bachvarova. “At the beginning of December the value of grain exported is about 700 mln. lv., and the export registered is well above 2,2 mln. t.”, she added.

This year the wheat production areas have expanded by 8%, while at the same time in most other countries of the EU they have shrunk. The registered wheat fields are now 10 800 000 dka.

“The extremely good economical conditions this year, with prices of 330-340lv for a ton of wheat, have permitted the augmentation of the wheat production.”the vice-minister said, and continued – “In addition, the agricultural sector has an overwhelming growth of 40%, in comparison to 2007.”

“The registred growth of Bulgarian economics will probably be due to our agricultural products export.”, Bachvarova noted.
