Bulgaria to import gas from Egypt in 2011

The supply of gas for Bulgaria from Egypt was discussed during a meeting of the Bulgarian minister of economics and energetics Petar Dimitrov and the Egyptian minister of petrol eng. Sameh Fahmi.

“In February 2009, a working team will begin work on a memorandum for collaboration between the two countries in the field of energetics,” announced minister Dimitrov. He explained that the team will do preparational work in January, when the prime minister Sergey Stanishev will visit Egypt.

“2011 is a reasonable deadline to begin importing gas from Egypt”, said minister Dimitrov. He also said, that the initial deliveries will be between 0,5 to 1 billion cubic litres gas per year, with a tendency to increase the amount.

“The possibilities for collaboration in the “Nabucco” project will also be discussed”, added minister Dimitrov.
