Chepelare aspires to be an all-year destination

“The Rodopi mountains are an attractive destinations both in the winter and summer. The monumental nature and the natural foods, the local customs and cuisine are very attractive and will serve well our aspirations to turn Chepelare into an attractive destination throughout the entire year”, said the mayor of the municipality Georgi Popov.

We intend to develop the hiking and ecological tourism during the summer. We’ve established over thirty tourist routes, all of them well marked and interesting. They are full of natural and archaeological landmarks like the “Roman road”, the “Ancient road to Avdira”, etc.

The longest route in the project is a collaboration between several municipalities on the way from the region of the Rodopi mountains to Xanthi in Greece. The road passes through the municipalities Chepelare, Banite, Rudozem, and ends in Greece.
