Catastrophe and death put an end to Rally Bulgaria.

A heavy road accident stopped SS7 and SS8 of Rally Bulgaria 2009. In SS7 “Sestrimo” (23,68 km) team number 10 Brian Lavio/Flavio Gugelmini (Brian Damageo, Peugeot 207 S2000) were involved in a car crash that killed the navigator Gugelmini, reported the official website of the competition.

The crash in which Gugelmini died was very heavy. The vehicle of the team – Peugeot 207 – flew and hit a cliff directly. Flavio Gugelmini died on the sport. The pilot Brian Lavio is a live and slightly wounded.

The rally staff reacted quickly. Within a minute the staff warned the Control center of the rally that team number 10 is not moving through the checkpoints.

There were three cars on the track at that time. After they passed through, the FIV (First Intervention Vehicle) arrived on the spot. The control center canceled all remaining races for the day, effectively ending the rally.
