The best Bulgarian female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova will face Lucie Shafarjova (the Czech Republic) in the first round of the tournament on red courts in the Spanish city Barcelona. The tournament has a grand prize of 220 thousand dollars.

The 21 year old Pironkova, currently в„–50 in the international rankings, already gained 1 point in the WTA rankings and 1725 dollars. Shafarjova, 22 years old, is 49th at the moment. She is 177 cm. tall and weighs 62 kilos.

Since the beginning of her professional career in 2002, the left-handed Czech player from Brno won 4 titles and received a total of 1 171 972 dollars.
