Record-setting chill grips Bulgaria

“Record-setting low temperatures of 17 degrees below zero, were reported by meteorologists this morning in Dobrich”, announced representatives of the National meteorology institute.

Minus 14 degrees showed the termometres on the peak “Botev”. 11 degrees below zero was the temperature yesterday morning in Svishtov, Ruse, Shumen, and on the “Rozhen” peak.

In Veliko Tarnovo, Dragoman, the Black peak and the peak “Musala”, the temperatures were around 11 degrees below zero. The temperatures in Montana, Lovech and Karnobat was -10, and in Vidin -9.

Big cities like Sofia and Varna noted temperatures of minus 8 degrees, and minus 5 in Burgas. The winter resorts and their infrastructure works well, assures the mountain rescue guard.

There are dangers of avalanches at certain places, where last week’s snow turned to ice.
