Spa resorts are winning over Bulgarians

Spa centers are attracting the largest number of Bulgarian tourists. Data from the tourism agency Retour shows that the package sales for vacations in Bulgarian spa resorts are increasing progressively, with a steady growth between the beginning of the year and the end of March.

Velingrad is the leading city for spa resorts, followed by Sandanski and Hisaria.

Spa weekends are the most preferred form of vacation; the agency notes a 40% increase of the sales of this package compared to the same period in 2008. Another favoured product are the packages of 4 or 5 days.

Ski tourism is also showing a steady growth in the first months of 2009. January is the strongest month so far, with a growth of tourism visits of 27% compared to 2008.
