Stanishev: BSP will discuss the possibilities for a higher coalition threshold

“BSP will discuss the eventual increase of the voting threshold for coalitions”, said the prime minister Sergei Stanishev in front of the headquarters of the political party DPS, minutes after handing a birthday gift to the DPS leader Ahmed Dogan.

Stanishev declined commenting the ideas of the liberal parties DPS and NDSV to form a coalition for the European parliament elections with the words: “There’s logic behind such ideas, but that is something for the two parties to decide. I’m not the one to tell them what to do.”

When asked if the “coalition love” between DPS and BSP will continue in the next parliament, the prime minister once again dodged a concrete answer. Instead, he said that the two parties showed responsibility in governing the country during the mandate, which is also true for NDSV.
