The latest issue of the government newspaper “Durzhaven vestnik” informs that the measure for poverty from January 1st 2009 will be 194 leva monthly.

The execution of this decision is handed to the Minister of labor and social politics and the chairman of the National statistics institute (NSI).

This measure is in accordance with the regulations of the statistics agency of the EU (Eurostat) in the fields of income and welfare of the population.

Data for the yearly budgets of families in Bulgaria, compiled by NSI, was used when calculating the new measure for poverty.
