Two naked solo spectacles will be the highlights of this year’s Sofia Dance Week. The festival for modern dancing theatre will start on September 24th and end on October 1st. The stages of the National opera and ballet and the “Sofia” theatre will host the festival.

The first of the erotic performances will take place on September 25th. It’s fittingly called nudo.nuda (“he’s naked. she’s naked”) The Italian Allesandra Christiani tells the story of the female world during it’s most delicate periods – from puberty to the beginning of adulthood. Alone on the stage with her naked body, Christiani researches the irresistible need of primal identity – the body and all of it’s dark desires and eccentric fantasies.

The other scandalous spectacle is called “Waiting”, by the Polish choreographer and ballet dancer Mikolai Mikolaichik will take place on September 29th. This is the autobiographic story of the dancer’s birth. During the spectacle, the author seeks his lost identity and reflects on the loneliness, emptiness and desperation with the bitterness of an injured beast. The audience is left to decide whether his nakedness is a fitting portrayal of the human being.

Once again, Sofia will be the gathering place of the biggest names in the international dancing scene.
