We enter the Schengen Agreement on March 1st, 2011

The day Bulgaria enters the Schengen zone is March 1st, 2011, confirmed the vice-minister of foreign relations Milen Keremedchiev during a round table conference on the topic of Bulgarian readiness to enter the Schengen. According to him, up to now Bulgaria has constructed the most advanced national visa center in the EU, visa stickers of European standards have been introduced, and the gathering of biometric data from 12 consulting offices is ready.

Keremedchiev also announced, that June 1st 2009 marks the beginning of regular checks of the level of readiness of the Schengen entrance consulting offices.

By November 2010, the so-called Schengen informational system for border-crossing data transfer should be ready, added the vice-minister of internal affairs Kalin Slavov.
