Shields demands apologies Bulgaria

The 22 year old Michael Shields was released on a free pardon last week and stated that he demands apologies from Bulgarian authorities for “serving a sentence for a crime he didn’t commit”.

The football fan was found guilty of attempting a murder in 2005, and was sentenced to 15 years in prison and 200 000 leva compensations after inflicting serious injuries on the Bulgarian bartender Martin Georgiev.

The Liverpool fan Michael Shields was released on a free pardon by the British minister of justice Jack Straw.

Michael Shields is back in Liverpool. “I can’t believe that it’s all over”, said Shields to the Daily Mirror newspaper. His goals for the future are still connected to football – he’s hoping to become a coach.
