“The natural gas is property of “Gasprom” and we would like to purchase it directly from the company. I stand by this statement as the official stance of the government.” This was said yesterday for the Bulgarian national radio by the vice-prime minister and minister of foreign relations Ivailo Kalfin.

He added, that the current shipments of gas go through three intermediaries – the largest amount goes through “Overgas”, “Vintechshal” and “Gasprom export”.

According to the Bulgarian minister of foreign relations the problem with intermediaries is that in situation like the current crisis it is hard to take legail action for financial damages.

“”Overgas” is a Bulgarian firm, branch of “Gasprom”. When there’s an intermediary, there’s always a rise of prices”, added Kalfin.
