“A land called Bulgaria” gathers Bulgarians in Plovdiv
The folklore meeting “A land called Bulgaria” will gather over a hundred Bulgarians living abroad in Plovdiv. The occasion is the Day of the unification of Bulgaria – September 6th, which is also the Day of the city of Plovdiv. This was announced at a special press conference by the director of the Culture department in the municipality of Plovdiv Johan Devletyan.
Folklore ensembles from Romania, Moldova and Serbia will participate in the meeting. Two ensembles from Ukraine canceled their performances in the last minute due to sponsorship issues.
This year’s international folklore meeting of Bulgarians living abroad is a first of it’s kind. It will take place in Plovdiv between September 3rd – 6th.
A lot of time – nearly a year – was needed to organize the meeting, which required finding the Bulgarian ensembles abroad. The organizers intend to make the initiative an annual happening.
The concerts will take place in the Military club in Plovdiv at 19 o’clock. Entrance is free.
