The Spanish chess master Alexey Shirov achieved a classy victory this year’s fifth edition of the chess tournament “M-Tel Masters” 2009, which took place in Sofia.

Shirov, who showed that he’s among the main competitors for the title early in the competition, defeated his direct opponent for the first place Magnus Carlsen.

Shirov, who played with the white figures, took advantage of the youth of the Norvegian chess master and won the title on the 30th turn. The Bulgarian chess master remains second in the final rankings.
