Bulgaria with a bronze “medal” for tax evasion
Italy is the European champion of tax evasion with 51% undeclared earnings, according to the research of the Association of Italian taxpayers.
Romania and Bulgaria are respectively second (42%) and third (39,2%) in the chart. The data comes from the police services of the European countries. Estonia (37,6%) and Slovakia (34,1%) round up the top five. The industrialists are at the top in tax evasion in Italy with 32,7%. They are followed by bankers and insurers – 24,4%, shop owners – 11,9% and craftsmen – 10,9%.
In the regions chart, Southern Italy is at the lead with 29,4%, followed by Northwestern Italy – 28,6%, Central – 21,2% and Northeastern – 20,8%.
