Eurobarometer: Bulgarians expect economic standstill next year
38% of the Bulgarians expect no changes in the economic situation in the country next year, while 37% expect an even worse situation for the future.
These were the results from the research of Eurobarometer for June 2009, which was presented in the office of the European Commission in Sofia.
It’s notable that only 3% of the Bulgarian citizens consider that the social support system in the country can be an example for other countries. The same statistic in other countries in the EU is nearly 46%.
The Bulgarian society was angered when the European funding for Bulgaria was stopped, but most of the people quickly realized the country itself is to blame, said the sociologist Jivko Georgiev.
Despite that, the research concludes that Bulgarian society is changing it’s view on the European Union – rather than a profitable source of money, now they see it as a chance for the Europeanization of the Bulgaria.
