Some of the biggest international companies in the field of nuclear energetics expressed interest in the construction of a 7th and 8th blocks in the nuclear power plant “Kozloduy”. This was announced by the minister of economics and energetics Petar Dimitrov during the discussion for the energetics strategy of Bulgaria by 2020.

Minister Dimitrov declined to specify the names of the companies.

When he was asked wheter any Bulgarian energetics companies expressed interest to participate in the future construction of two more reactors in the Bulgarian nuclear power plant, he replied: “For now, nuclear energetics are not a hobby of Bulgarian business”.

The minister of economics also commented on the demands of “Atomstroiexport” – the company that builds the nuclear power plant “Belene” – for the increase of the value of the second nuclear power plant. The contract with the Russian company includes the possibility for indexing of the project depending on the inflation.
