“There are very few cities with a cultural and historical resource as Plovdiv. It has the potential to be a worldwide tourism center”, said the chairman of the Consultative council for tourism Liubozar Fratev during today’s assembly. The assembly discussed the tourism development plan for 2009-2013, presented by docent Simeon Zhelev.

Noting the importance of tourism for the future of the city, the municipality council member Ilko Iliev, the mayor Slavcho Atanasov and his tourism advisor Georgi Shopov also participated. The offers made during the discussion will have to be laid out in the final version of the strategy. It will be presented to the mayor on December 9th, and will be voted on the last session of the municipality council on December 18th.
