Submitted on Friday, 29 May 2009No Comment

The Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin signed yesterday the government’s agreement to provide the necessary funds for an export credit for the nuclear power plant “Belene”. This was announced by the chief executive of the project management of the energy company Ivan Atanasov. He did not comment on the concrete sum that was approved for the loan, because such information still hasn’t reached Bulgaria through official means. Expectations are that it will cover the Bulgarian demands for 3,8 billion euro.

The credit will be given to the new company with stockholders National electricity company (NEC) and the chosen strategic investor – the German company RWE.

According to Ivan Atanasov, the loan will be corporatively guaranteed. If the Russian side wants Bulgarian guarantees, the matters will be additionally discussed.
