Sofia – third in the world in the rise of hotel prices
The capital of Bulgaria is third in the world in the rise of hotel prices in the third quarter of 2008 according to a research of Hotels.com, made in over 68 000 hotels in 12 500 destinations. In Bulgaria, the hotel prices increased with 13% on a yearly basis in the third quarter of the year, to a level of 92 euro per night average.
The research shows that in comparison, during the same time last year the average price per night in a hotel in Sofia was 81 euro. The first place in the rise of hotel prices is Abu Dhabi, with an increase of 18%, to 129 euro per night. The second place is held by Warsaw with an increase of 14%, to 106 euro per night.
The price of a night’s stay in Bulgaria’s capital ranks 54th among the top 67 cities. Cities like Beijing (91 euro per night), Budapest (88 euro per night), Marseille (87 euro per night), Bilbao (86 euro per night), Prague (84 euro), Shanghai (81 euro) turn out to be cheaper than Sofia.
