The “Golden prize” of the magazine “Tourism and recreation” was given at an official ceremony during the branch-specific expo “Vacation and spa” in the National palace of culture. The best tourist village for 2008 in Bulgaria is Borovets, the best family hotel is “The Black Stork” in the village Nisovo, near Rousse. The best four stars seaside hotel was “Bilyana beach” in Nesebar, and the hotel “Royal” in the same city was declared best three star hotel.

The best spa hotel is “Atreya” in Hisaria. Petar Zlatanov, mayor of Pomorie, was declared “mayor that contributed to the image of his municipality as a tourism center”.

The mayor of Sofia Boiko Borisov handed out the rewards for “Best five star hotel”. He received a martenitza (traditional bracelet) from the village Dobarsko. It is a symbol of health and luck to watch over his political career.
