The new CSKA team is back in Europe
The vice champion of Bulgaria CSKA begins their run in the European championships against Derry City in a match of the third preliminary round of the Europa League. The game will take place at the National stadium “Vasil Levski” at 20:00 h.
This is the first European-scale game for the “army” team after a pause of two years. The last time the red fans saw their favorite team in the European tournaments was on October 4th 2007 – the unfortunate match against Toulouse FC that cost them their participation in the UEFA tournament. They lost all hopes of entering the tournament in the last minutes of the game, when Jinyak scored in the 96th minute and the 1:1 draw doomed CSKA to stay at home.
The next season was one of the most traumatic in the entire history of the team. In the summer of 2008, the club could not receive license for the European tournaments and was denied the opportunity to play in the qualifications for the Champions league, even though they dominated their eternal rival in Bulgaria Levski in the local rankings with 16 points ahead after the end of the season.
