The subway in Sofia now includes the section between the stadium “Vasil Levski” and the district “Mladost 1”. Hundreds of media representatives and citizens were present at the official opening of the section near the stadium “Iunak”.

The Bulgarian president Georgi Parvanov and the mayor of Sofia Boiko Borisov opened the new subway section. The two were the first to use this part of the subway. They tested it in both directions.

With the construction of the section between the stadium “Vasil Levski” and the hotel “Sheraton” in September, one could travel between the districts “Mladost” and “Obelia” for20 minutes, stated Boiko Borisov. In his speech, the mayor expressed his dissatisfaction with the decreased funding for the capital city this year – 350 million leva less.
