The construction of a subway between the district “Mladost” and “Tsarigradsko shose” road begins tomorrow.

The symbolical turning of the first sod will be done by the mayor Boiko Borisov. The mayor invited the prime minister Sergey Stanishev to the event. The new subway tunnel will be 2,2 kilometres long, and will have an underground parking lot for 2000 cars and two stops.

The first stop of the subway will be located on the yet-to-be-constructed boulevard “Universiada”, and the second – near the international exhibition center “EXPO-2000”.

Experts predict, that the underground train will significantly decrease the traffic on “Tsarigradsko” road. According to statistics, each day 12 000 cars pass by the exhibition center.

The subway tunnel should be completed by 2012.
