Dozens of young people and children gathered in the Sofia zoo today to help with the painting of benches, the decoration of the animal cages and other activities that made the zoo more presentable.

The event is part of the “Days of volunteering” initiative organized today. Over a thousand citizens – not only from Sofia, but all over the country – took partin it.

The organizers are the foundation “Help for the charity in Bulgaria” of the American trade chamber. The American ambassador Nancy McEldowney and her family also joined the initiative.

McEldowney said that it is a pleasure for her to be among the volunteers and it’s an honor for the staff of the embassy to take part in the initiative.
