The case against Alexander Tomov – stopped
The Sofia city court stopped the legal action against Alexander Tomov, Alexander Garibov, Ivan Todorov and Bozhko Bonev.
Tomov’s registration in the list of the party “Bulgarian social democracy” for the EU parliament elections is cited as a reason to stop the legal procedures.
This registration gives him an automatic immunity, because he was accused of commiting a crime in partnership with other defendants. His immunity protects them as well.
The court also revoked the defendants’ forbiddance to leave the Bulgarian borders.
Alexander Tomov was accused of illegal gains of 3,5 million euro. This case was merged with the case for misuses of the factory “Kremikovtzi” for 29 million leva.
“This is a question of legal rights of the defendants and respectively, candidates for members of parliament in the European parliament, so we have no choice but to stop the legal procedures,” commented the observing public prosecutor Nikolai Dzhambazov.
