The vice-champion of Bulgaria CSKA defeated the Irish Derry City with 1:0 in the first match in the third preliminary round of the Europa League tournament. The victory of the red team was a very difficult one, with a goal by Ivan Stoyanov in the 74th minute.

Thus the “army” team has an advantage of just one goal before the second match in Ireland. Overall, the team of CSKA was better in the playing field, while Derry had an organized defence and used their offence sparingly.

The goal striker Ivan Stoyanov had two opportunities for a goal in the game. The first came in the 68th minute, but he missed. The logical outcome happened a little later – in the 74th minute, when a cleared ball fell onto his foot and with a precise strike he left Doherty helpless.

Until the end of the game, CSKA missed several other good opportunities for a goal and had to settle with the minimal victory.
