Bulgaria ready to purchase 2,5 billion cubic m. natural gas from Turkmenistan

Bulgaria is ready to purchase 2,5 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Turkmenistan. This was announced by the president of the Republic of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov after the official ceremony for the signing of three documents between both countries.

The Bulgarian president added that this is an expression of gratitude towards Turkmenistan for the high opinion of the Turkmen president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow on Bulgaria. This gas will be more and more needed in Bulgaria.

“Of course, the big issue is the pipeline layout, as it passes through many countries. It’s important to note that after the meeting between Bulgaria and Turkmenistan, we can expect much more intensive relationships which could suggest possible solutions and revitalize our economic contacts”, said the Bulgarian president.

He noted that the two countries see similarly on topics regarding the development through energy cooperation, mostly through energy safety and diversification.

According to Parvanov, the friendship between the two presidents is an expression of the traditional trust between Bulgaria and Turkmenistan. “We value highly the contribution of Turkmenistan in the struggle against human trafficking and terrorism. Bulgaria will be a factor of the European Union politics in the region.

The contact between the two presidents will stimulate the relationships between ministries and hopefully will lead to the formation of an commission between the two governments”, added Parvanov.
