A unique tumour operation done at the VMA
For the first time ever in Bulgaria, an operation on a malignant tumour was performed with the use of ultrasonic neuronavigation. The intervention was done at the Clinic for nerve surgery at the Military medical academy, announced the Bulgarian National Radio.
The big advantage of this method is the ability of the surgeon to see on a monitor his progress in removing the tumour.
There are about 60 such devices in the world. The only such device in Bulgaria is in the Military medical academy. The operation was made under the guidance of docent Alexander Petrov.
