Bulgaria could lose another €1,6 billion euro funds
The signing of contracts for the construction of purifiers under the “Environment” program has stopped.
This was announced by the minister of environment and waters Dzhevdet Chakarov, cited by the Bulgarian national radio.
The recommendation not to sign any new contracts in the water sector came from the General department “Regional politics” of the European commission in a letter to the vice prime minister Meglena Plugchieva.
The requirement is to deal with the issue for the ownership of the sewer system infrastructure.
Chakarov added, that the blocking of 1,6 billion euro for the water sector isn’t a failure of the Ministry of environment and waters. The blame for the stopping of contracts, according to him, belongs to the Ministry of regional development.
