Bulgaria will give back money from the FAR programs

Bulgaria will have to give back money from the pre-joining program FAR, announced the vice-minister of regional development and urbanization Lilyana Pavlova.

This will certainly happen for six out of the ten road projects, financed by the program.

These projects have long since expired and the Ministry of finance will now have to return the European funding for their completion, clarified Pavlova.

The other four of the ten road projects are also under investigation because of ineffective governmental control before the signing of the contracts.

According to the vice-minister, Bulgaria will most likely not regain those finances. These ten projects are part of the FAR program projects that Brussels put an end to.

Their total value is 32 million euro, which is the maximum sum that Bulgaria might have to give back to the European Union at this point.
