Bulgarian icons delighted Paris
The exhibition “The treasures of the Bulgarian icons”, which is on display in the church-museum La Sainte-Chapelle in the heart of Paris, is a tremendous success – 85 000 visitors have admired the masterpieces of the Bulgarian icons so far. By the end of the exhibition – August 31st – the expected number is 100 000. The exposition has already been invited to be the guest of the renown hall “Auditorium Rainier III” in Monaco and the National gallery in Prague (the Czech Republic).
The exhibition opened on May 11th 2009, under the patronage of the Ministry of culture of Bulgaria and the Ministry of culture and communication in France.
The exhibition “The treasures of the Bulgarian icons” has been widely advertised across Paris. Billboards advertising the exhibition are located at the major metro stations. Posters about the exhibition are also put up on the public bus transport. The culture newspaper “Monde” published an article about the exhibition several days ago. The periodical defines the exhibition as “exceptional”, and puts an emphasis on the differences between the Bulgarian and Byzantine Christian cultures.
The newspapers “La Croix” and “Liberacion” also published information on “The treasures of the Bulgarian icons”, noting the exquisite nature of the icons and the deadline of the exhibition, August 31st 2009.
