Bulgarians spend more time with their children compared to socialist times
Parents in Bulgaria spend more time with their children now than they did in socialist times, shows a research of the Center for population researches of the Bulgarian academy of sciences.
According to scientists, during socialist times children spent more time in kindergartens, study circles and extracurricular activities.
“115 minutes per day is the average time that a Bulgarian woman spends with her children, which is triple the amount of time she spent with them in 1988”, announced docent dr. Maria Nikolova from the center.
Bulgarian fathers spend roughly 65 minutes per day with their children. They compensate the shorter amount of time with a better quality of communication, because this time is only dedicated to playing and talking with the children.
In comparison, the mother could talk to the children only in between household chores, which affected directly the quality of the communication itself.
