Cannes awaits “The World is Big…”
“The World is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner” will go to the largest movie market, which will take place within the 62nd Cannes Film Festival.
The Cannes Film Festival, founded in 1946, is one of the world’s oldest, most influential and prestigious film festivals alongside Venice and Berlin. Over the last few years, the participants are more than 10 000, coming from a 100 different countries from various continents, and the movies shown are more than 900.
In 2009, the most ambitious Bulgarian film production for the last 20 years – “The World is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner” will be presented at the Cannes market by the Bulgarian producers from “RFF International” and the international distributor “m-appeal”. The movie by the director Stefan Komandarev is based on the best selling book of Ilia Troyanov. It became one of the cinema landmarks of 2008 in Bulgaria, with over 20 000 viewers withing the six months of screenplay. It is currently the Bulgarian movie with the longest presence in the top 20 of Bulgarian box office.
