According to the statement of the vice-minister of tourism Ivo Marinov during the round table dedicated to tourism issues in Varna, the status of the resort complexes in Bulgaria is yet to be determined.

The status determination process will keep in mind the specific nature of the resorts as urbanized territories. Special attention will be paid to the management of income generated in resorts.

The tourism region division will also take place. This division into regions will not match the administrative borders of the country. The division into regions will be based on geographic product, which will most likely divide Bulgaria into 8 or 9 tourism regions.
