Christmas is here
The Christian world celebrates Christmas today, celebrating the birth of the son of God – Jesus Christ.
Tradition dictates that the family celebrate and feast, but unlike Christmas Eve, the meal includes meat. The traditional meals include “pacha” (jellied pig’s trotters), roasted pork, round loaf, roasted liver, jerked meat with cabbage, roasted hen.
The religious go to church and attend the Christmas mass.
Great Christmas – also called Bozhik and Bozhich – is the holiday with the most rituals, and is among the biggest annual holidays in the Bulgarian ethnic history. The holiday is a continuation of the Eve before, and begins right after midnight – with the custom “Koleduvane”.
