It’s decided – the bulgarian rangers in Iraq are coming home

The government approved the official report that marks the end of the bulgarian mission in Iraq, said the prime minister Sergey Stanishev during a conference today.

The report was proposed for counsel by the vice premier Ivailo Kalfin and the minister of defence Nikolay Tsonev today. According to the decision of the National assembly, by December 31st the Bulgarian mission in Iraq ends.

The vice premier Ivailo Kalfin explained that during the 5 years of Bulgarian participation, 97 buildings worth 2,67 million dollars have been constructed or rebuilt. These money are part of the budget of the multinational forces in Iraq.

For the five years of participation, Bulgaria spent over 155 million leva for the mission in Iraq. The minister Nikolay Tsonev said, that the rangers will be back in Bulgaria with two flights between December 15th and 20th.
