A photography exhibit with 20 award winning pictures officially opened on Sunday at the Sofia “Serdica” metro station.

The exhibit is also going to be displayed in the Italian capital Rome at the end of November.

The 20 pictures show the unique beauty and atmosphere of several Bulgarian cities and towns.

The pictures are prize winners from the National photography contest “My City in Europe”, organized by the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry.

Participants in the contest sent over 400 pictures in one month. The pictures came from all over the country, with most of them from Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas and Veliko Turnovo.

The contest had the goal to entice people from different towns and cities in Bulgaria to look for connections between the history and culture of their hometown and European values and symbols.
