Sofia in Christmas

The Christmas spirit has taken over Sofia. Despite the cold weather and slippery, iced sidewalks, citizens walk the streets with their late gifts in hand for their friends and relatives.

The big boulevards of Sofia and central places of the capital are decorated. Despite that most of the Christmas decoration is the last year’s, they still look new – and they have “reinforcements” of new decorative signs and slogans. A day before the opening of the Southern pass of the Ring-road of Sofia, it’s decoration was fully lit.

Unfortunatelly, the traditional Christian images. Santa, Rudolph and others replaced the images of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ. Also, the Christmas carols are mostly in English.
