The middle class in Bulgaria
Sociologists recognize the middle class in Bulgaria more and more.
Today, during the “Political scenarios on the eve of the election year” discussion, the sociologist Zhivko Georgiev announced that in the last two to three years, an urban middle class is forming in Bulgaria.
According to him, the newly formed class consists of about 18-20% of the active population – educated young people with well-paid jobs that prosper because of their personal qualities and planned out futures.
“This new middle class is poorly represented in the political parties, and only a part of it gave a chance to the project of NDSV in 2001”, clarified Georgiev.
He predicts that this new class will be a “big player of the next parliamentary elections”, and will actively participate in the writing of future bulgarian history.
“GERB is not a project that this new class likes”, added the sociologist.
