Universities will broaden their ranks by 10%
Universities in Bulgaria will take 10% more students for the 2009-2010 year. This was announced by the Ministry of education and science.
The total number of places for the latest batch (2009-2010) of students is 66839. Compared to the 2008/2009 period, the number of students has increased with 6344 people (as mentioned, 10%). The increase is a result of the recent changes in the Laws for university education which encourage the gradual filling of the capacity of the universities.
The change is in accordance with the demands for the number of student in professional courses. Numbers will be monitored to avoid going over the limit of needed professionals. The monitoring of the internal balance is partially the reason why some universities didn’t reach their limits for 2009-2010. The admittance is also in accordance with the labour market demands.
