The laws for referendums – discussed in Veliko Tarnovo

One of the latest discussions before the approval of the law for referendums took place in Veliko Tarnovo, writes the website dnesbg.com.

The topic of the discussion was “Direct involvement of citizens in the governing”. The organizers of the event were the citizen union “Spravedlivost” (Justice), the union “Balkan Assist” and the Municipality administrators association.

The mayor of Veliko Tarnovo hosted the conference. The member of parliament Yanaki Stoilov, among other deputees that worked on the law, participated in the event.

Last week members of non-government organizations sent an open letter to the National assembly, expressing their worries that deputees stand behind the idea of a 600 000 signatures threshold for an obligatory national referendum.
