Grigor Dimitrov gave up because of an injury at “Wimbledon”

The debut of the best Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov at “Wimbledon” ended in an unpleasant manner. He had to give up because of an injury during the third set of the game at a result 6:3, 0:6, 0:4. Grigor won the first set against the Russian Igor Kunitsin with 6:3. The 18 year old Bulgarian however lost the second set with 0:6 and was losing by 0:4 in the third set. He decided to end his participation after 75 minutes of play. His ankle was injured early in the second set.

The game began very strong and not surprisingly, the result became 2:2 very quickly. The Russian tennis player – 39th in the international rankings – had his first chance to get ahead in the fifth game, but the Bulgarian outmatched him. Grigor, who is a “wild card” participant in the tournament, used his chance to get ahead with 4:2 result. A very long seventh game followed, during which the Russian tennis player took the lead with 40:0, but Grigor stepped up his game and made the score even. Several intensive minutes later, the Bulgarian closed the first part with a result of 6:3.
