After meeting the Bulgarian prime minister Sergey Stanishev in Brussles today, the President of the European Commission JosГ© Manuel Barroso stated that Bulgaria is in a good position during the crisis which is taking a toll on all countries in the European Union.

The main reason for the good standing of Bulgaria is the notable economical growth throughout the last few years and the maintaining of a strict financial discipline.

Bulgaria will receive financial aid to deal with crisis situations just like every other EU country.

One of the forms of aid are over 500 million euro in the form of preliminary payments on European programs.
