Levski against Debrecen to qualify for the Champions league
The football champion of Bulgaria Levski FC will face Debrecen FC in the decisive playoff before the Champions league. Their opponent was defined by the draw in Nyon (Switzerland). It’s already known that the “blue” team got to face Debrecen instead of FC Sheriff (Moldova), APOEL FC (Cyprus), Red Bull Salzburg (Austria), Ventspils FC (Latvia) and the champion of Hungary.
The first match is on August 19th, with the Bulgarian champion as a host. The second match will be a week later, August 25th.
In case of a success, Levski will play in the Champions league for the second time in the club history after 2006. If they fail, they will continue their participation directly in the group phase of the Europa League, where they debuted back in 2005, when the tournament’s name was still UEFA Cup.
Levski FC, 26 times champion of Bulgaria, got to this point after victories with 4:0 and 5:0 against the Anorran amateurs Saint Julia, and draw and a 2:0 victory over the Azerbaijani FC Baku.
